"Yes, these are early years. But still those same the Sure Shots. Recognizable and lovable. Regardless of when and why you heard them for the first time - this CD will immediately sound "familiar" and pleasant. This rather unique combination of Rock'N'Roll and Rockabilly, combined with a distinctive vocalist, leaves no other possibility. Quite original style and yet very balanced in authentic mood. For me, the sound of this band has always been presented as a really cool embodiment of the eighties and nineties (even not only in terms of genre). On "The Early Years Vol 1" the recordings are surprisingly magnificent. Even in some ways a good starting point for getting to know the band. Of course, when the "format" of the release is clear and known. So you can make an allowance for quality, but still be able to appreciate an interesting concept and attitude. Thus preparing yourself for pleasant surprises in the form of "later" albums and releases with a more mature and established sound. This collection shows the characteristics of the Sureshots well! Very collaborative approach, creative and artistic mind. And a bit of scenic manner. Well.. demos, early steps and live gigs. 1984's demo cassette tracks (01, 02, 03, 04) - replayable and evocative. The other two tracks from 1984 (05, 06) are just fine and rockin'. 1986's tracks (07, 08) are quality and diverting. Live 1985 (09, 10) is joy and acting. Live songs from 1986 (11, 12) are wonderful set." smed28 - 13 March 2022
